Material Name: Sort the Figure
Purpose & Developmental Benefits
The Sort the Figure set helps children learn to classify objects by color and size while also developing spatial orientation skills as they place each block into its correct position on the wooden frame. The activity strengthens logical thinking, a sense of order, and fine motor development, following the Montessori principle of working with one variable at a time.

Classroom & Home Use
Children select a block, observe its color and size, and place it into the correct position on the frame, either by following a model or by creating their own order. The material may be used as a sorting or size-and-color discrimination activity within Practical Life or pre-Mathematics work.
As proficiency increases, children can be invited to create a “new pattern” for a peer to follow, encouraging interaction and collaborative learning.
