AMI 0–3 & 3–6 Trainer
Dr. Silvia C. Dubovoy is an AMI 0–3 and 3–6 Trainer, as well as an AMI Coach, Consultant, and Examiner, supporting Montessori teacher education programmes around the world.
Her Montessori journey began in 1965 as a parent, school board member, and coordinator at her children's Montessori school. Since then, she has devoted nearly six decades to advancing Montessori education internationally through teaching, research, leadership, and professional development.
Dr. Dubovoy holds a Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Barcelona and AMI Diplomas in Assistants to Infancy (0–3), Primary (3–6), and Special Education. Her interdisciplinary background enables her to integrate Montessori philosophy, developmental psychology, and inclusive education into her work with educators worldwide.
From 1982 to 2010, she served on the AMI Board of Directors in Amsterdam. She currently serves on the AMI Research Committee and as an Alternate Representative of AMI to the United Nations, contributing to international research, policy, and advocacy for children and education.
In addition to leading AMI teacher education programmes, Dr. Dubovoy has taught in postgraduate Montessori programmes at the University of San Diego, Loyola University Maryland, and the Universitat de Vic in Spain. She is also the founder of the AMI Inclusive Education Course, a pioneering programme dedicated to inclusive education within the Montessori framework.
Strongly influenced by the humanistic psychology of Dr. Carl Rogers, Dr. Dubovoy's teaching emphasizes respect, empathy, and the unique potential of every individual. Through her work as an educator, researcher, and international consultant, she continues to advance authentic Montessori education and inspire educators around the world.
